The MIG Pink Pineapple Video

PRESS RELEASE

MORTGAGE INVESTORS GROUP PASSES EDUCATION AND SUPPORT DURING BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – From a Memphis rooftop to the middle of a creek running through Knoxville’s Krutch Park, a pink pineapple passed from the hands of one Mortgage Investors Group employee to another to raise awareness about breast cancer this month, company officials announced today.

Many of the MIG’s executives, loan officers and support staff from across the firm’s 25 branches in Tennessee participated in the second annual “Pass the Pink Pineapple for Breast Cancer Awareness” video campaign.

“Breast cancer affects so many around us,” said MIG Senior Vice President and Director of Business Development Kevin Rhea. “We wanted to raise awareness about this disease, promote early detection, support those that are fighting and honor those who have fought.”

The short video, set to an upbeat tune, depicts employees creatively passing a pineapple that has been painted a bright shade of pink from one end of the state to the other. At one point in the video, Memphis Branch Manager Todd Brown runs the pineapple to the roof of an MIG office building to toss it to the waiting arms of a colleague below. Later, an MIG staff member cradles the pineapple like an infant before passing it to Downtown Knoxville Branch Manager Lisa Wiles, who receives it while standing barefoot in a creek that runs through nearby Krutch Park.

Other employees, many of them wearing pink clothing or pink Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons, dance or celebrate with the pineapple, while others throw or snap it like a football.

“With early detection, we can save so many lives,” states a caption next to the video on the MIG Cares community involvement website. “Help us educate those around us!”

MIG Director of Marketing Moneek Langston said the video is one of several activities the Knoxville-based mortgage lending company is participating in during Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.

“We have breast cancer literature in the lobby at every branch to assist our clients and employees on continuing education,” she said. “We are also hosting The Big Pink Chair from the American Cancer Society this month.”

Guests are invited to drop by MIG’s home office at 8320 E. Walker Springs Ln. between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. every Friday in October for a bite to eat from local food trucks and to snap their picture in the Big Pink Chair.

“We are hosting a Big Pink Chair photo contest with Knoxville Weekend and the American Cancer Society to give away a $500 donation towards a Making Strides team for one lucky entry,” Langston said.

To enter, contestants need to post the photo to www.migpinkchair.com with the hashtag #MIGpinkchair.

MIG will sponsor the Big Pink Chair during the Making Strides walks in Knoxville on Oct. 21 and in Chattanooga on Oct. 28, Langston said. Knoxville Weekend, in partnership with MIG, will also be hosting KDUB Talks in the chair throughout the month.
