KNOXVILLE, TENN. – Veteran Mortgage Investors Group executive Sharon Rivers will oversee operations in an expanded role for the Southeast’s leading residential lending firm, company officials announced today.
“I am absolutely thrilled to announce Sharon Rivers as our new Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer,” said MIG President and Co-Founder Christine Rhea. “Sharon brings 33-plus years of experience to our table. There is nothing at MIG that Sharon has not experienced firsthand or been an integral part of achieving. Her knowledge of our industry is outstanding, and I am delighted she will be at the helm.”
Rivers, whose career began in the banking industry, has managed MIG’s closing operations since the company opened its doors in Knoxville in 1989. She built MIG’s closing division from the ground up and has overseen the firm’s post-closing operations since 2006.
In her new role, Rhea said Rivers will spearhead the drive for smooth and cohesive operations across MIG’s closing, post-closing, loan delivery, loan sales, underwriting, collateral and credit endeavors.
“She will make sure all pieces are well connected,” Rhea said.
Rivers, a University of Tennessee graduate, said she looks forward to the opportunity to promote positive growth beyond the closing and post-closing departments to enhance MIG’s commitment to closing loans quickly and efficiently while ensuring exceptional customer experiences.
“I’m excited to take what we’ve been able to accomplish in other departments and bring it forward to new direct report areas,” she said. “I look forward to bringing knowledge and empowerment to support the continued development of our team members as it relates to continuing our strong tradition of leadership within the mortgage lending industry.”
Rivers is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Affordable Homeownership Advisory Council and the Client Advisory Board for Chase, one of MIG’s lending partners. She is a 2023 graduate of Vistage’s Emerging Leader Program and earned a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace certificate from the University of South Florida in 2021.
