Digital Sales Manager
When I relocated to my hometown of Knoxville in early 2017, I turned to MIG for help in purchasing my first home. I had such a positive experience that when I found out a new department was being created there, I knew I wanted to be a part of the effort to take the company into the new millennial by extending its digital footprint across the state of Tennessee. While I hailed from a background in insurance, joining the MIG family as manager of the Digital Consumer Interface team was the best choice I could have made.
Since joining the team in March 2017, I have overseen our efforts to educate future homebuyers about the ways they can use digital platforms and social media to learn more about their mortgage lending options. I work with four talented loan officers, Amber Cook, Jonathan Cooper, Austin Deel and Darren Osborne, to help our customers get into the home of their dreams. When clients meet with us, they can expect first-class service from trusted advisors. We work diligently to ensure each client also walks away more educated about the home-buying process.
Outside of the office, you can catch me spending time outdoors, hiking or exploring. While I love watching college and professional football, I also enjoy baking and consider myself a sucker for reading a good book on a rainy day. I have wanderlust and never tire of learning. I began my mortgage lending career in 2013 in Maryville, gaining experience as a loan officer and loan servicing manager before joining MIG’s home office in Knoxville in May 2017. While I am a licensed mortgage loan originator, I also serve on MIG’s Digital Sales team. The five-member team formed in May 2017 to build relationships with customers seeking mortgage lending services through online and digital platforms, as well as social media. When potential homebuyers inquire about mortgage financing through one of those outlets, I reach out to them to answer their questions and help them start the process of securing a mortgage. Whether I connect with customers through traditional means or via a digital campaign, I strive to offer the highest quality of customer service while ensuring that the mortgage loan process is as smooth and comfortable as possible. When homeownership is not an immediate possibility, I offer encouragement and sincere advice on how to reach their goals.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially at one of the many lakes around East Tennessee. I firmly believe that growing, both personally and professionally, is key to living a fulfilling life. When it came time for me to consider a new career, I drew inspiration from the phrase, “If you are always comfortable, you will never grow.” That concept helped me transition into mortgage lending after having worked for eight years in the insurance industry. My experiences in my earlier career helped me learn the importance of listening to my clients, as well as how to help customers find products that best meet their unique needs. Both of those skills serve me well as a licensed mortgage loan originator.
I joined MIG’s home office in Knoxville in August 2017. In addition to serving as a loan officer, I am also part of the firm’s Digital Consumer Interface team. In that role, I work with customers who seek mortgage financing information through online and digital platforms, as well as social media. Whether I’m connected with clients through traditional means or one of those digital campaigns, I enjoy the opportunity to guide them through the home-buying process with ease and help them achieve the success and rewards of becoming homeowners. I aim to provide customers with outstanding customer service, with honesty and integrity always being my top priority so that I earn their trust and business. Being able to listen to clients and work with them from start to closing is a wonderful feeling. The fact that I can help them make the biggest financial decisions of their lives is what makes coming to work every day rewarding.
When I’m not advising clients about their mortgage lending options, I enjoy spending time outside and at the dog park with my dog, Forrest. In the fall, you can find me hiking and watching college football – Go Vols! I also love trivia and would consider myself to be only slightly competitive.(Ok, very competitive!) Loan OfficerI became a loan officer because I wanted to go out into my community and help people make their dreams of owning their own homes a reality. The mortgage lending industry has not only allowed me to do that, but it has also given me the opportunity to work with individuals from all walks of life.
As a licensed mortgage loan originator, helping customers purchase their dream homes or get the most house for their money when refinancing a home serves as my top priority. I joined MIG’s home office in Knoxville in May 2017 after enjoying a 10-year career in financial services. I served as a branch manager for a local credit union, as well as another area bank, during that time. After years of lending money for clients to purchase cars, boats, ATVs and other recreational vehicles, I decided to pursue my mortgage lending license so I could lend money for people to obtain the one thing everyone needs – a home.
In addition to my loan officer role, I also serve on MIG’s Digital Sales team. The five-member team builds relationships with customers seeking mortgage lending services through online and digital platforms, as well as social media. When potential homebuyers inquire about mortgage financing through one of those outlets, I get in touch with them to answer their questions and help them start the process of securing a mortgage. Whether customers are buying their first home or refinancing an existing one, I keep their best interests at heart while offering them a professional mortgage lending experience.
I am a graduate of the 2012 class of Leadership Oak Ridge and the 2013 class of the East Tennessee Regional Leadership Association (ETRLA), where I remain an active alumnus. I served as board president of the United Way of Anderson County for the 2016-2017 term and have continued to serve the organization as a general board member since my term as president.
Outside of the office, I enjoy traveling, boating and jet skiing with my wife, Shayla, and son, Darren Jr. I also enjoy watching basketball and football, particularly the Carolina Tarheels and Tennessee Titans.
