Celebrating the Rich Culture of Women's History Month

Celebrating the Rich Culture of Women’s History Month

Posted by : Admin

March is Women’s History Month, a perfect time to think about the strong, compassionate, hard-working women we’re all around every day. We want to honor the smart, determined, trailblazing women who have pushed for equality and independence. Here are some fun ways to celebrate the month with the females in your life.

Have a Girl Power Dance Party

Build a playlist of empowering female songs and dance the evening away. Just a few must-have songs to get you started include “Roar” by Katy Perry, “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga, “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera, “I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan, “Independent” by Destiny’s Child, “Respect” by Aretha Franklin, “Sisters Are Doing It for Themselves” by The Eurythmics, “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” by Shania Twain.

Help Girls Make a Vision Board

Get a stack of magazines and a piece of cardboard and help young girls build a powerful vision board of the type of woman they want to become. Whether it’s education, kindness, activism, politics, music, art, career, a combination of those, or something else, talk to them about what they want from life and how they want to make their way in the world.

Read a Book

Find a good book or two that tell the stories of women’s history to learn more about the journey and how a woman’s role has changed over time. Some good ones to try include “The Atomic City Girls,” which tells about the women who worked in the Oak Ridge plants during World War II, and “The Radium Girls,” about the women who were exposed to radium through their work. Other good ones are “A Black Woman’s History of the United States,” “I Dissent,” “Ladies of Liberty,” “Witches, Midwives, and Nurses,” “I Am Malala,” “The Woman Who Smashed Codes” and “Who Says Women Can’t Be Doctors?”

Write Thank-You Notes to Some Inspiring Women

The female teachers, coworkers, bosses, friends, or neighbors in your life whom you admire would undoubtedly love to hear it. Share on paper what you admire most about these women and how they inspire you, and either drop it to them in person or mail it. You’ll make their day by letting them know that somebody notices and appreciates their efforts.

Watch a Powerful Woman Movie

Get in your pajamas, pop some popcorn, and get motivated or inspired to reach for the stars with movies like “A League of Their Own,” “Erin Brockovich,” “The Color Purple,” “Million Dollar Baby,” “The Hunger Games,” “Moana,” “The Help,” “The Blind Side,” or any others that represent woman as powerful, intelligent characters.

Eat a Meal at a Woman-Owned Restaurant

Support local women-owned businesses by going to lunch or dinner at (or getting takeout from) a restaurant or café owned by one. You’ll be honoring female business owners and reminding yourself and your companion that women can do anything they set their minds to, even entrepreneurship.

Raise Money for a Women-Focused Charity

There are many worthy causes that benefit women that would love your assistance. Find a way to donate to an education fund, or to help woman find employment, or one that helps them get out of abusive situations. It can be a local organization or one halfway around the globe. By donating money to this cause, you foster generosity and compassion, helping us lift each other up.

Here are some of our favorite quotes from powerful women. Another fun activity is to take your favorite quote and frame it or buy some paint and decorate a T-shirt with it.
