Allergens are carried in the air and can be found on all surfaces of the home. Allergy and asthma control starts in the home. There is no way to keep a home completely allergen free, but cleaning on a regular basis can help you reduce the number of allergens to which you are exposed. Reduce Indoor Pollution
Many people who suffer from allergy decide to stay inside when the air is full of spores and pollen. This is a good strategy, yet there are still dust mites, pet dander and other allergen problems indoors. A good way to improve the quality of the air in your home is to keep the humidity as low as possible. Reducing the humidity can decrease dust and mold. An air conditioner can help keep the humidity and exposure to pollen and dust from outside to a minimum.

Control sources of pollution.
With regular and thorough cleaning, you can improve the indoor air quality and reduce your symptoms. First, you should remove the source of as many allergens as you can. This includes, bedding for pets, stuffed animals and any linens that are not washable in hot water. Many times dusting can kick up allergens in the air, so you should reduce any unnecessary items that collect dust.

Control dust. Keep all the surfaces in your house as clean as you can. Floors an walls are good at collecting dust, so you should spend a good amount of time keeping them clean. One of the most effective methods of controlling dust is by applying plastic covers on all pillows, mattresses and box springs.
